Rachel is a producer, entertainment lawyer and storyteller.  She is currently Producer of the feature film Heavenquest: A Pilgrim’s Progress where she developed and co-wrote the story, oversaw the team of writers and guided the script through production.  The film features a star-studded international cast, including South Korean film and television legend In Pyo Cha (Laurel Tree Tailors, Crossing, Mokpo Gangster's paradise, Seoul Searching), beloved Mexican telenovela star Karyme Lozano (Televisa’s Quiero Amarte, For Greater Glory: The True Story of Cristiada), Peta Sergeant from Australia (CW’s he Originals and ABC’s Once Upon a Time in Wonderland), Ricky Kim from South Korea (SBS’ Oh! My Baby), and Fernanda Romero from Mexico (400 Days and The Eye), and including Americans Alan Powell (The Song, lead singer of Christian group Anthem Lights) and introducing Patrick Thompson.

 

She was also previously Associate Producer of the U.S. / Hong Kong co-production film Always from the producers of Supercapitalist (2012).  The film starred Derek Ting, Danni Wang (The Blacklist, Madam Secretary) and Peter Shinkoda (Netflix’s Daredevil, TNT’s Falling SkiesGodzilla) as well as industry veterans Philip Chan (Hard Boiled, Police Story 3: Supercop, Bloodsport, Double Impact) and Ian Buchanan (Panic RoomGeneral HospitalDays of our Lives).  Always completed post-production with Technicolor at the Paramount Studios where Dan supervised post-production sound with Oscar-Winning sound mixer Ben Wilkins (Whiplash).  The film premiered at the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival in 2015, and has been acquired for worldwide distribution by Gravitas Ventures.

 

Rachel is also an experienced entertainment lawyer and business affairs attorney.  She graduated with a Master of Law (LL.M) with honors from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. She is a member of the California and New York state bars, and is also certified to practice in Hong Kong.

 

Rachel’s law practice includes entertainment law, media and fashion business transactions, film and television production legal, intellectual property and trademark counseling, as well as representation of talent from both traditional and new media. Her clients include film producers, television producers and showrunners, actors, music producers and songwriters, and well-known YouTube fashion personalities.

 

Rachel has also recently handled production, licensing and distribution agreements for an upcoming feature film documentary based on the career of A-List comedy director Judd Apatow where she represented the film producers and directly negotiated against Mr. Apatow as well as studios, agents, and managers for over fifty prominent actors such as Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Emma Stone, Steve Carrell, Jim Carrey, Melissa McCarthy, Seth Rogen, Katherine Heigl, Jonah Hill, Mila Kunis and James Franco.

 

Rachel’s other recent work has included partnership and cross promotional deals with the digital fashion network of magazine publisher Conde Nast (Vogue, Vanity Fair), sponsorship and endorsement agreements with luxury and fashion brands Tiffany & Co. and Guess by Marciano, as well as management agreements for a fashion blogger and online style icon. Rachel’s other recent projects have included legal and business affairs for an upcoming U.S. and Hong Kong co-production film and music production agreements for music producers and songwriters.

 

Prior to producing and law, Rachel was a former Miss Malaysia and was the first Malaysian to ever win an international pageant when she won TVB’s prestigious Miss Chinese International competition.  She has acted in nationally broadcast television dramas and hosted live television shows in front of audiences in the millions on leading television networks TVB in Hong Kong and Astro in Malaysia.  She has acted in a number of feature films and was signed by Jackie Chan Group, Jackie Chan’s production company in Hong Kong, where she was talent and part of the production team for many films and television series.
